Saturday, October 3rd 4:30-7:30pm SHIFT Studio in Wallingford
Knowing how to change your state, how to feel good in your body, how to move stuck energy (aka anxiety, depression, cravings, etc), how to recover well, and take care of your bodymindspirit through movement.. this is the foundation of Mixed Movement Arts.
Our bodies need a variety of foods for optimal health. The same thing goes for our movement. The past few years I’ve been researching what are the “Universal Movement Nutrients” that humans need to go beyond surviving/just getting by and into thriving with vibrant health.
Wringing/twisting/spirals, lengthening/expansion, full compression, and shear force are some of the most common missing nutrients from the average modern human’s “movement diet”.
We’ll talk about developing “Atomic Movement Habits” into your every day life so you can tune your instrument (your body) throughout the day, as well as structuring deeper dive body care rituals.
We’ll talk about the spectrum from specific techniques to open somatic improvisation, and why the whole spectrum is needed for best results.
I’ll share the most effective “fascia-first” movement practices I’ve found after 15 years of doing this work looking for the best methods to move better, feel good, and heal on a deeper level. We’ll go into some of the art and science and philosophy, but mostly experiential practice you can integrate into your current life/practice right away.
WHAT WE'LL PRACTICE:
*The Mixed Movement Arts Stress Reset –your most powerful daily tool for nervous system regulation. De-stress, de-tension yourself.
*10 Core Mixed Movement Arts Fascial Maneuvers — the NEW whole-body protocol of wringing, spiraling, counter-rotational movement patterns that rehydrate your fascia and move stress out of the body
*Shaking meditation, Skin stimulation, Spine movement, Qi Gong & Yoga-Inspired Movement, Intro to Cranial/Jaw Release, Somatic Sea Creature, and more.
You don't need any experience. You just need a body and a willingness to try something new.
WHAT YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH:
*A felt experience of what fascia-first movement actually does for you. *The Mixed Movement Arts Stress Reset — a daily practice you can use immediately. *A taste of the full NeuroFascial Toolkit. *Clarity on what your body has been missing *An invitation to go deeper
