MIXED MOVEMENT ARTS FALL WORKSHOP SERIES

Saturday, October 3 — NeuroFascial Reset
Saturday, October 10 — The Mobility Project
Saturday, October 17 — Shapeshifter
All Three October Workshops
4:30–7:30pm
SHIFT Movement & Healing Arts
3517 Stone Way N, Seattle

These workshops represent the three domains of Mixed Movement Arts practice, in the order I'd recommend while acknowledging it's a non-linear process.

Movement Domain #1

We start with RESET — learning to change your state, move stuck energy, and give your body the movement nutrients it's been missing. This is what we'll explore in NeuroFascial Reset.

Movement Domain #2

Then MOBILITY — building strong, usable flexibility by developing trust with your nervous system at your end range of motion. This is what we'll explore in The Mobility Project.

Movement Domain #3

Then MOVEMENT FREEDOM — improvisation methods, creative strength training, movement vocabulary, floorwork, locomotion, spine terminology, play.  This is what we'll explore in Shapeshifter.

 OCTOBER 3 — NEUROFASCIAL RESET

The universal movement nutrients most of us are missing: wringing, twisting, spirals, lengthening, compression, shear force. The Mixed Movement Arts Stress Reset, Fascial Maneuvers, shaking meditation, skin stimulation, spine movement, Qi Gong and yoga-inspired movement, intro to cranial and jaw release, and the Somatic Sea Creature. Plus Atomic Movement Habits — how to tune your instrument throughout the day.

OCTOBER 10 — THE MOBILITY PROJECT

The secret to flexibility is building trust with your nervous system by progressively developing strength at your end range. Treated like strength work, with sets and reps, it yields far better results than passive stretching. Assessment and baselines, the forward fold, deep squat and straddle pancake, loaded progressive stretching, Controlled Articular Rotations, elasticity development, intro to splits and bridging, linear versus organic mobility, and how Fascial Maneuvers amplify the whole process.

OCTOBER 17 — SHAPESHIFTER

Using music as a metaphor with your body as your instrument — learning the scales and chords of the body so you can create more interesting and enjoyable songs. Joint articulations, quadrupedal locomotion vocabulary, floorwork technique, getting down and up in as many ways as possible, isolating the body into three regions, integrating sequences, and improvising your own movement expression. Creative strength training that combines strength, mobility, coordination, conditioning, and creative expression in one container.

WHAT YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH:

 - A complete, practical movement system rather than three disconnected afternoons
- The Stress Reset and Atomic Movement Habits you can use the same day
- Methods for building strong, usable flexibility you can keep training on your own
- More movement vocabulary, and more options for expressing it
- The logic behind what's trained and why — so you can adapt it rather than just follow it
- A practice simple enough that you'll actually keep it

WHO IT'S FOR:

Anyone with a body. No experience needed. Trauma-aware and all levels welcome, with progressions and modifications throughout — for beginners, for people navigating injury or chronic illness, and options for intermediate and advanced practitioners.

WHAT TO BRING:

Long sleeves and pants, water. Optional but recommended: kneepads, notebook.
